1 〔水泳させる〕 let [make] sb swim; 〔水に放つ〕 throw 《a fish》 back; release into the water.

●夏休みは毎日息子を海で泳がせた. During the summer holidays, I took my boy ocean swimming every day.

・彼は自宅の池に数十尾のコイを泳がせている. He's got dozens of carp swimming around in his garden pond.

・〔料理の手順で〕 ゆであがったホウレンソウは 2, 3 分冷水に泳がせておきます. Let the boiled spinach sit in cold water for about 2 or 3 minutes.

2 〔体を前にのめらせる〕

●押されて思わず体を前に泳がせた. Pushed from behind, I stumbled forward and barely kept from falling.
